06/01/07 - Oregon Governor Signs "Access to Birth Control Act" Into Law
|
| |
Group health insurance providers in the state of Oregon will soon be required to offer policies that provide the same coverage for prescription contraceptive drugs and devices as they do for other prescription drugs. A new law, the "Access to Birth Control Act," affects policies purchased or renewed by employers on or after January 1, 2008. The law makes exceptions for "religious employers" and it does not regulate most self-insured health plans, or group policies that are issued and delivered outside Oregon. Twenty-three other states currently have regulations similar to Oregon's new law.
