A new law, the "Access to Birth Control Act," affects policies purchased or renewed by employers on or after January 1, 2008. The law makes exceptions for "religious employers" and it does not regulate most self-insured health plans, or group policies that are issued and delivered outside Oregon. Twenty-three other states currently have regulations similar to Oregon's new law.
