Q: How can I protect myself with an employee who has access to sensitive company information?

A: The first step is to have good policies and procedures to protect confidential and sensitive information. Also, this means that you conduct thorough interviews and background checks to be sure you are hiring good people. Have all new employees sign a confidentiality agreement. Whenever possible, have systems in place that include checks and balances so it may be apparent early on that there is a leak. Electronic monitoring of employees should be done with caution.
